Profiteer Privacy Policy
Profiteer is a Shopify app made by Resistor Software Inc. It works out the cost of goods sold, profit and inventory value for your Shopify store. This policy explains what data Profiteer handles, why, and what happens to it.
Customer information
Profiteer does not store any information about your customers. Shopify sends Profiteer order and refund notifications, and those include customer details such as names, email addresses and shipping addresses. Profiteer reads only the line items, prices and dates it needs to calculate costs and profit. It never saves the customer details.
What Profiteer stores
- Your store's Shopify domain, the access token Shopify issues to the app, and your Profiteer settings.
- Product details: product and variant IDs, handle, product type, vendor, and the cost prices you enter or upload.
- Sales line items: order number and ID, product and variant IDs, SKU, barcode, item description, quantity, selling, discounted and cost prices, order date, sales channel and vendor.
- Refund amounts on orders.
- Files you upload or ask Profiteer to generate, such as cost price uploads, exports and sales reports.
How the data is used
Your data is used only to show you reports inside Profiteer and to email reports you request to your store's contact address, which Profiteer looks up from Shopify when it sends the email. A copy of each report email goes to Resistor Software support so we can help if something looks wrong. Your data is never sold, never shared with other merchants, and never combined or aggregated with other stores' data for any other purpose.
Service providers
Profiteer runs on these providers, which process data on our behalf:
- Heroku (Salesforce): application hosting and database.
- Amazon Web Services: storage for uploaded and generated files.
- Twilio SendGrid: delivery of report emails.
Retention and deletion
When you uninstall Profiteer, Shopify notifies the app, and Profiteer deletes your store's record, its products, orders and sales, and any uploaded or generated files. Copies held in routine database backups expire on the normal backup schedule.
Profiteer also responds to Shopify's mandatory privacy requests, including customer data and erasure requests. Because no customer information is stored, there is no customer data to return or erase.
